Ways to elevate your home

Ways to elevate your home

Your home is more than just a place to rest your head, it’s your sanctuary, your haven from the outside world. Creating a space that reflects your personality is the ultimate way to elevate your homes ambience and make it truly yours. Here are some easy yet effective ways to elevate your home and turn it into a stylish, calming oasis.

  1. Lighting-

Lighting can make or break the ambience of a room. White bulbs emit a crazy bright light, perfect for illuminating spaces, while yellow bulbs create a cosier ambiance, ideal for creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. I know which ones I’m going for in my home! For me, a simple switch of a lamp in a dark cold room, can create the cosiest most romantic vibe and I instantly feel warmer! Experiment with different lighting fixtures, such as floor lamps, table lamps, and pendant lights, to create layers of light that add depth and warmth to your space. Consider installing dimmer switches to control the intensity of overhead lights and create a relaxing atmosphere. I would absolutely LOVE these! Oh, and don’t forget your candlelight but I’ll get to that.

  1. House plants-

Greenery not only enhances the aesthetics of your home but also purifies the air and promotes a sense of wellbeing. Choose low maintenance houseplants like succulents, snake plants, or ivy, which thrive indoors with minimal care. Place them strategically in different rooms to create a sense of harmony with nature and bring the outdoors inside! A pop of green from a beautiful plant can just do wonders for a space. Feel like a little space or corner just doesn’t look right? try adding a plant, it could be the colour, texture, or height you were looking for. I love waking up in the mornings, pottering about watering my plants and tending to them. I have LOTS, so it’s a bit of a routine now and I’m so here for it.

  1. Soft furnishings-

Plush cushions, cosy throws, and textured rugs are the secret ingredients to making your home feel inviting and comfortable. Choose fabrics and textures that complement your existing décor and add layers of warmth to your living spaces. Mix and match patterns, colours and materials, and layer. Drape your blankets and throws over sofas, chairs, and beds for that effortless, lived in look. Add a rug to your space, under a coffee table, partially under your bed, or in a big old empty space to add a touch of softness, colour, and pattern to your floor. Nothing makes your room look more luxurious than a beautiful set of curtains or drapes. Thick, heavy curtains will instantly give sophistication to any part of your home. While light, sheer curtains will give you gorgeous sunlight filtering through your windows.

  1. Candles-

Candles are a must for that cosy, romantic atmosphere. Imagine a dark evening, it’s raining outside, you’re snuggled up on the sofa with a blanket, a lamp is on, and you have the flicker of a candle twinkling back at you. Ooooh I just love it! opt for your favourite scent or calming fragrances like lavender and chamomile. I burn certain scents for every season, this dark and rainy night sounds like Autumn to me, so I’d be going for pumpkin spice or sweet vanillas and woodsy, forest scents. Place them on coffee tables, bedside tables, and bathroom counters to infuse every corner with a soothing aroma and flickering light. I light one when I’m cooking or baking, when I’m having a bubble bath and after I’ve cleaned the house. Candles are not only a source of light, but powerful mood enhancers.

  1. Decluttering-

A clutter- free home not only looks better but also feels more spacious and organised. Take the time to declutter and streamline your living spaces by getting rid of items you no longer need or use. Invest in stylish storage solutions like ottomans, under bed storage and shelves to keep clutter at bay and maintain a tidy, harmonious environment. For me, everything goes into a basket, a jar, or a container to make my space more neat, tidy, and minimal. Removing excess items can reduce feelings of stress and anxiety by promoting a sense of order and calmness. A clutter free home is a clutter free mind!

  1. Fresh flowers-

Theres nothing quite like the beauty and fragrance of fresh flowers to breathe life into a room. Incorporate seasonal blooms into your home décor to add colour, charm, and a touch of nature. Whether it’s a simple vase of tulips on the dining table or a stunning arrangement of roses in the living room, flowers instantly lift the mood, look beautiful and elevate your home! There’s truly nothing like the joy of purchasing a fresh bouquet of flowers.
